Pricing and Auction Length

When determining the pricing on your auction listing, make sure it is reasonable. As we suggested before, find similar auctions and see what is a good asking price. You have the following options in how you want to sell your item/items.

First is the "Starting Bid". This is the price you decide for starting the bidding with.

Second is a "Reserve Price". This is the minimum price you are asking for the item. For example, if you start your auction out at $4.00, and your reserve is $35.00, it will not sell unless it reaches the reserve price. If you do decide on putting a reserve price on your item, we suggest saying what the reserve is in your auction description. Reserve prices can dissuade most potential buyers.

And finally, a "Buy It Now" price. Again, do a search for similar items on the auction site, and find out what people are paying for it. Determine what money and time you put into the auction item as well.

The length of your auction is totally up to you. If your auction is started on a week day, and ends on a week day, chances are that your auction might not sell. Its good to pick a Saturday or Sunday for your closing day of your auction so that people will have time to bid on your auction. Some auction websites will have a small fee if you choose to keep your auction up for several days. However you choose the length of your auction, make sure to place this in your auction description. This will alert possible buyers, and they will make it a point to revisit your auction.
